Jersey City will pay $325,000 to settle a whistleblower lawsuit filed by the city’s former chief financial officer who claimed she was fired in 2020 for refusing to falsify financial statements related to the municipal budget. The settlement with Lubna Muneer, who was fired less than one year into her four-year contract, is expected to be approved Wednesday night at the city council meeting. The settlement calls for Muneer to receive two payments of $112,500 and her attorneys to receive $100,000.
