It's all change in Stockport
The incredible transformation of Stockport town centre looks set to continue with two well-known high street chains preparing to open new stores.
The two new stores are the latest in a series of exciting new additions to Stockport's high street. In March, IKEA opened a concept store in Merseyway while Marks and Spencer recently returned to the town centre with a huge food hall at Peel Retail Park. Coun Colin MacAlister, Cabinet Member for Economy and Regeneration at Stockport Council, said: “With the decline of many of our much-loved department stores over the years, town centres across the country are facing the issue of having large vacant units on their hands. This news shows we can attract major high street retailers of this calibre to the town which shows real confidence in Stockport, despite challenging times.
