U.S. President Donald Trump and Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe signed a limited trade deal on Sept. 25 that cuts tariffs on U.S. farm goods, Japanese machine tools and digital products.
Although the agreement does not cover trade in autos, Abe said in a press conference that he had received reassurance that the United States would not impose previously threatened national security duties on Japanese car imports.
