James Gunn takes to Instagram to confirm that the BatMite reference in Peacemaker does indeed make the weird character DCEU canon. Where would you like to see the little guy actually show up?
Peacemaker’s James Gunn has confirmed that Bat-Mite is officially canon in the DCEU. The series follows Christopher Smith a.k.a Peacemaker on a brand-new mission handed down from Amanda Waller and her team. New episodes drop every Thursday, with the first three hitting HBO Max this week.
Peacemaker follows the events of The Suicide Squad and picks up with the titular anti-hero as he recovers from the wounds he suffered during the climax of the film. Now seemingly a free man, Christopher Smith is recruited once again by the United States government for a new top-secret mission. This mission pairs him up with a team of agents to provide him support in the field, including John , who reveals the existence of Bat-Mite as a “two-foot-tall interdimensional imp who stans Batman.
Of course, while Bat-Mite is now canon in the wings of the DCEU, whether or not audiences will actually meet the diminutive character remains to be seen. Even as the DCEU has become increasingly weird in the last few years, interdimensional imps may still be a bridge too far.
