has an excellent chance to be the first player drafted at his position in the 2023 NFL Draft. The 2022 Butkus Award winner, Campbell enjoyed a highly productive career as a Hawkeye. A permanent team captain, Campbell was Iowa’s defensive MVP in 2021 and 2022.
We’ve been reviewing every little thing we’re doing. We did that ahead of Indianapolis [combine] and we’re making sure it carries over to the next level. I wanted to dive in on how he breaks down film. I wanted to know what a normal week looked like for Kuechly in the NFL. I also gained a ton of valuable information on what kind of specific position work he was doing. I basically wanted to learn about everything he did that allowed him to go out there and dominate on Sundays.
Jack Campbell: You said it. Linebackers are getting smaller and smaller. I grew up playing linebacker. I love this position. When I got to Iowa, some people [on staff] saw me at other positions. I’m thankful that my defensive coordinator and linebackers coach stood on the table for keeping me at linebacker.
Whether it was a good play or a bad play, I approached it with high effort and maximum energy. I don’t stop going until we’ve gotten the ball-carrier on the ground. I feel like that’s what led to my successes at Iowa. It’s something I’ll continue doing at the next level.Jack Campbell: I’m dang proud to be an Iowa Hawkeye. The defensive talent that has been produced and sent to the NFL is out of this world. We’re always ready to take that next step into the NFL.
Jack Campbell: I just love making the plays that are going to put my team in the best position possible. I feel defending the run is super important, especially in The Big Ten. We did that at the highest level at Iowa.
