Jack Black becomes the new Superman in James Gunn's upcoming DC Universe franchise in a hilarious video. DC Studios is bringing a new era to life with the upcoming DC Universe from Gunn and Peter Safran. After launching DC Studios in November 2022, the DCEU is about to get replaced with a new cinematic universe that is currently in the works. Under Gunn and Safran's regime, they are in charge of television, movies, video games, and animation for the DC Universe.
SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY The new DC Universe will properly begin with Superman: Legacy, which is currently scheduled for release in 2025. Gunn and Safran announced the first half of Chapter 1 with DC shows and movies that are currently in the works. As Hollywood is still responding to the new direction of the DC Universe, Black released a hilarious video on his Instagram, essentially campaigning to be Superman. Gunn even jokingly responded that this "news" wasn't supposed to be revealed until San Diego Comic-Con.Jack Black's Video Proves The New DCU Is Generating Renewed Hype While Black is not getting tapped as the new Man of Steel, his video is a sign of the reception DC Universe is starting to garner.
But with Gunn and Safran taking charge to create a more cohesive DC Universe, word of mouth is quickly taking a new direction. With Safran's track record of DCEU movies that have had great success and Gunn's superhero achievements, DC Studios is slowly creating a better reputation. Many actors have already expressed wanting to join the new DC Universe for various roles, showing they are obviously enthusiastic about Gunn and Safran's franchise.
According to Gunn, casting is expected to be announced within the next few months. San Diego Comic-Con would likely be an event where some of the new stars get revealed for the new DC Universe. With a lot of anticipation for Superman: Legacy, the new Man of Steel will obviously be the biggest deal for the upcoming franchise. Hopefully, as 2023 progresses forward, the DC Universe will have more news about its films and TV shows sooner rather than later.
