Dermot O'Leary is working with the BBC for a project close to his heart after This Morning announced its permanent hosts as Ben Shephard and Cat Deeley.

Dermot O'Leary has announced a new career move away from This Morning. He is part of a revolving door of hosts on the ITV breakfast show following Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby's exit.

The schedule routine means Dermot will now have more spare time on his hands during the week, as he announced an exciting new project in collaboration with the BBC. The BBC Two special will see the star visiting various coastal lifeboat stations and telling stories from past crews. Speaking about the upcoming project, Dermot said: “As an ambassador for the RNLI and a huge history fan, it was a privilege for me to uncover some of the untold stories that saw ordinary volunteers get involved in some of the most extraordinary events of the Second World War.

Discussing his passion for the organisation, Dermot said: "For me, the connection with the RNLI goes back to when I was a kid. I grew up in a small town called Colchester, which is about ten miles from the sea. A lot of my leisure time is spent by the beach and on the sea, but it's more than that for me.
