Nobody in fast food has ever seen anything like the response to Popeyes fried chicken sandwich.
On Monday, Restaurant Brands International said that the Popeyes’ chicken sandwich resulted inThe sandwich debuted in August, but Popeyes only had enough inventory for two weeks of sales. RBI got a better picture of the sandwich’s ongoing strength in November, when it returned permanently to the Popeyes lineup.
The closest thing he could find was a 19.8% increase at Chipotle in the third quarter of 2014. One reason for Chipotle’s increase back then was that it was on a growth spree. “This has been a very exciting time for the Popeyes team,” Cil said, “and in fact, has been an exciting time for all of us who spent a long time in QSR and have never seen the kind of guest response for a single product launch like the one we had for our Popeyes Chicken Sandwich.”
“The chicken sandwich has been a great way to introduce many new guests to the brand and our research shows that Popeyes often shoots the top of the list in preference once the guest has tried our products,” Cil said.
