so vigorously that I consider it part of my arm workout. I look at my collection of mismatched glassware fondly. Hell, even my stack of charmingly frayed kitchen linens evoke a kind of weird cook’s pride in me. You know what never inspires pride? My pot holders. Like seemingly everyone else’s, mine are ugly. They’re quilted and utilitarian, and I haven’t replaced them in a decade.
Pot holders, on the other hand…they’re mostly safe from the mess of a kitchen. It’s not wild to think that you could have an attractive pair—even a pair in an intricate floral from tony 146-year-old Liberty—and keep them in fine shape. After all, you don’t use them to scrub messes. You only use them to briefly grab onto something hot and, hopefully, muck-free.
And beautiful pot holders are versatile: These are good-looking enough to carry to the dining room table and use as a trivet. And for your shiny, scrubbed-clean Dutch oven, of course.
