Dallas woman aims to break U.S. women's record at Irving Marathon
Exhausted and aching by mile 20, she told herself she would never put herself through this again.The Dallas woman plans to run her 1,000th marathon Saturday at the Irving Marathon, becoming the first woman in the U.S. to do so.Tortorice began running when she was 28 years old, around the time her then-husband was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis.
“The endorphins make you feel so good,” she said. “I’ve met so many wonderful people. Runners are so positive. The running community is an extension of my family.”
