Jurgen Klopp’s call for a replay has stirred some debate. Klopp’s comments will prove wise if he intended to spark debate about VAR transparency and foolish if he intended to actually secure a replay. Some fans may hope that this latest VAR debacle may signal the beginning of the end of VAR. It’s perhaps more realistic to see it as the beginning of more transparency in how VAR decisions are made.If any team has been Liverpool’s bogey side, especially in recent times, it has been Brighton.
This will be a continuation of what we’ve seen all season: grit, determination, all systems go, players driving forward despite the circumstances they face; down a man, down a goal, up against the odds. The response last weekend and again against Union Saint-Gilloise has proven the mentality monsters are back, and the rest of the league should take note.Football really does, consistently, find new and creative ways to get us talking.
