The militant Hamas rulers of the Gaza Strip carried out an unprecedented, multi-front attack on Israel at daybreak Saturday, firing thousands of rockets as dozens of Hamas fighters infiltrated the heavily fortified border in several locations, killing hundreds and taking captives. Palestinian health officials reported scores of deaths from Israeli airstrikes in Gaza.
The evidence that Iran is behind this attack is growing, and who is surprised? Iran’s mullahs have been agents of terror and instability throughout the world, and their goal to keep the Middle East in perpetual struggle often comes at the price of misery for both Israelis and Palestinians.The Palestinian people deserve peace and a stable homeland. That cannot come under the rule of Hamas, which has controlled Gaza since 2007.
Our hope is that Middle Eastern nations moving toward peace with Israel will look at what happened and recognize that Israel must act to defend itself and its people. No nation can or would accept the sort of open terror that was visited on Israel without a powerful response.
