British Airways has joined the roster of global airlines suspending flights to Israel. The move comes after BA crew diverted a flight to Tel Aviv moments before landing when air-raid sirens sounded in the area surrounding the airport. The airline was one of a handful of carriers still operating into Israel. Others, including the big three U.S.
operators--Delta, American and United--have already scrapped flying into the country despite no formal closure of the airspace from either the Federal Aviation Administration or its European counterpart. BA's flight from London to Tel Aviv on Wednesday had already begun its approach when the crew decided to turn the plane around. The flight, which typically takes about five hours, is currently over mainland Europe on its way back to London, according to Flightradar24.
