A Senate delegation headed by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer is cutting short a trip to East Asia due to “the tragic events unfolding in Israel,” a spokeswoman for the New York Democrat said.
The bipartisan delegation, which started its trip in China, will move up a meeting in South Korea with its president, Yoon Suk Yeol, to Wednesday and is skipping a previously planned stop in Japan to return to the U.S., the spokeswoman said. In Beijing on Monday, Schumer criticized China’s initial response to Hamas’s attack on Israel when meeting Chinese leader Xi Jinping.
