Before Sears Fine Food ended up on Powell Street, owners Hilda and Ben Sears first opened a restaurant in San Luis Obispo in 1924. Their signature dish was “dollar size little pancakes,” a recipe inherited from Hilda’s Swedish family. In 1950, they patented their Sears Pancake Mix.
