Irving plaza with iconic Mustangs of Las Colinas sculpture to reopen.
A North Texas landmark will reopen Friday after a multimillion dollar facelift.
Upgrades include more trees and landscaping, moveable tables, chairs, a multipurpose patio, improved lighting and fountain upgrades. Crews removed large sections of granite paving to create a more pedestrian-friendly public space on O’Connor Boulevard near Carpenter Freeway. The original plaza, with its acres of granite, was built at a time when monumental building projects were more favored than people-friendly spaces.said last year. “They don’t look at it as this big monument you drive up to and just take a picture. They want a great plaza to play with their kids and really enjoy everything that is there.”
