In a now-viral thread, the British-Iranian comedian Omid Djalili highlighted four of the women who have lost their lives since the protests began.

Mr Amini claimed that he only saw his daughter’s body after it had been wrapped for burial, when just her feet and face were visible, which revealed bruising on her feet.Women in Iran have been burning their headscarves in the streets as part of the protests.
The protests, which have taken place in towns and cities across the country – including Amini’s hometown of Saqez – have been met with force by police, who have used tear gas, gunshots and water cannons in attempts to disperse protestors. Iranian women have also uploaded videos of themselves cutting their hair and burning their hijabs on social media in a show of defiance against the government and in support of the protestors.
Amini’s death also sparked condemnation from the United States, the European Union and the United Nations, with the US imposing sanctions on Iran, denying authorities access to their properties and bank accounts held in the US.
