Around 30 firefighters rushed to tackle a huge blaze at a house in Hoddlesden last night.
Crews from Hyndburn, Darwen, Blackburn, Rawtenstall and Fulwood and an aerial ladder platform were called to Chapman Road shortly before 6pm on Thursday . Eyewitnesses reported the fire broke out at a property at the top of the street near a farm.
Lancashire Fire and Rescue Service said breathing apparatus, hose reels, a hose reel jet and a ventilation to unit were being used to bring the fire under control. Crews continued to tackle the blaze throughout the night and to monitor for hotspots.The incident has now been reduced to four fire engines and an investigation into the cause of the blaze with commence this morning . No details have been released about the exact damage caused to the house or any injuries.
In an initial statement, LFRS said: "At 17:58 on the 7th July 2022, six fire engines from Hyndburn, Darwen, Blackburn, Rawtenstall and Fulwood along with the drone unit and the aerial ladder platform from Hyndburn attended a domestic building fire on Chapman Road, Hoddlesden, Darwen. Firefighters are wearing breathing apparatus and are using two hose reels, one hose reel jet and a ventilation to unit to bring the fire under control. Crews remain in attendance.
An update at 11.15pm read: "This incident has now been reduced to four fire engines with firefighters remaining in attendance throughout the night continuing firefighting operations and monitoring hotspots. A fire investigation into the cause of the fire will take place tomorrow."Read next:
