Prior to last week’s share of 40th in the Invited Celebrity Classic, the PGA Tour Champions’ leading money earner had taken off three straight weeks.
Before Sunday’s final round, Toms said he was anxious to get back into the swing of things on the golf course. “Just get back in tournament mode and hopefully get somewhere close to the lead, get that excitement and nervousness and everything else, and see how I do,” Toms said. “It's a nice time when we have four weeks in a row to try to get back into tournament mode and hopefully get back to have a chance at one of these again.”. On Sunday, Toms closed at 2 under to finish in a share of third at 8 under.
“I played better this week,” Toms said. “Anytime you finish in the top five at one of our tournaments, you've played well.” Two years ago in the Insperity, Toms had a chance to win on The Woodlands Country Club Tournament Course, before sharing second place, two shots back of winner Mike Weir.Steve Stricker hits his tee shot on the second hole during the final round of the Insperity Invitational golf tournament, Sunday, April, 30, 2023 in The Woodlands.Steve Stricker has played the Insperity Invitational the only two times he has been eligible.
