Take an exclusive look inside the re-opening of the Marley's Tuff Gong vinyl pressing plant below
This February, the Marley family opened up Tuff Gong Studios in Kingston, Jamaica for a tour of its newly refurbished vinyl pressing plant, which is set to re-open this summer after largely falling out of use.
The plant will have an annual capacity of 250,000 units, and a series of limited-edition pressings of Marley classics — with that coveted Tuff Gong stamp — are set to be announced later this year.through the new plant and Tuff Gong’s iconic recording studio, while he and his brother Julian Marley muse on their father’s legacy amid a concert to celebrate what would have been Bob Marley’s 75th birthday.
Along the way, we get a look inside Tuff Gong’s recording studio and mastering room, warehouse of old vinyl releases from years past, and meet Chow, the legendary studio technician who has been running Tuff Gong — and living in its recesses — for its entire existence, dating back to before it was at its current location on Marcus Garvey Drive in Kingston.
