“In opposition all you have is your words and the ability to find the contestable issues,” the party source said. “The Government always has the ability to say we’re going to do X, Y and Z and we’re doing this. But this [the ad campaign] has managed to quite neatly get us onto terrain, ultimately, that the voters care about.”
But Shadow Chancellor Rachel Reeves gave her fulsome support to the controversial campaign, telling broadcasters during a visit to Brighton: “I’m not going to make any apology for highlighting the dire record of this Conservative Government and this Conservative Prime Minister.”
