Inside Charles and Camilla's Balmoral holidays with grandchildren from Balmoral picnics to hide and seek
Amid their exciting move from Kensington Palace Windsor, royal author Katie Nicholl reflected on the Cambridge family's adoration for all things outdoors, telling OK! that they’re "countryside people, never happier than when wearing muddy boots and a waxed jacket".
"When they go to Balmoral, it’s picnics and long walks and playing hide and seek in and around Grandpa Charles’ favourite bothy near Birkhall – Charles and Camilla’s home on the Balmoral estate." Kate and William have also been attempting to assist in helping their children to settle in at their new schools in Windsor, as well as resuming with their royal duties following the death of William’s beloved grandmother, Queen Elizabeth, who passed away on 8 September.
"Yes, they have a nanny and a housekeeper, but it’s Kate preparing tea most days. She really is completely hands-on,” she says. There was evidence of this more "hands-on" Charles during June’s Jubilee celebrations when Prince Louis asked to sit on "Grandpa’s knee"."Queen Elizabeth II’s success and popularity was rooted in her ability to adapt and evolve in the modern world," notes Katie.Katie also tells us that William and Kate are following in the footsteps of the Earl and Countess of Wessex’s parenting style with the two families spending a great deal of time together.
