The Seattle Seahawks will be down one of their best pass rushers and run defenders.
The worst case scenario just unfolded for Seattle Seahawks outside linebacker Uchenna Nwosu. Initially reported as a strained pectoral muscle , head coach Pete Carroll told reporters on Monday that Nwosu will need surgery, which would put an end to his 2023 season. Nwosu left Seattle’s 20-10 win over the Arizona Cardinals in the opening half and did not return. If his season is over it’ll end with two sacks , six quarterback hits, and four tackles for loss.
Nwosu signed a three-year contract extension worth up to $59 million earlier this offseason, having agreed to a two-year deal in free agency in 2022. Well this sucks, doesn’t it? There’s no way around it. Nwosu is not just one of the team’s best pass rushers, but he’s also one of the best run defenders. Boye Mafe, Derick Hall, and Darrell Taylor will all get bigger responsibilities with Nwosu out.
