Lancashire Constabulary said the huge cannabis farm was 'clearly orchestrated by people involved in organised crime'
Police have shut down an "industrial scale" cannabis farm in the heart of Bacup. Officers from the Rossendale Neighbourhood Policing team discovered and dismantled the set up last week.
Pictures shared last night on the Rossendale Police Facebook page showed hundreds of plants growing across what appeared to be several rooms in a building. The exact location of the set-up and number of plants seized has not been disclosed and no arrests have been reported. Lancashire Constabulary said the cannabis farm was "clearly orchestrated by people involved in organised crime" and the cannabis was being "grown on an industrial scale using a number of harmful chemicals". An investigation has been launched in to the people behind the operation and anyone with information is asked to get in contact with police.
"The people affected by these drugs which are grown on an industrial scale using a number of harmful chemicals to speed up growth or for the people forced to run these farms, people often illegally brought into the country for the sole purpose of farming these set-ups. "Enquiries are currently ongoing in to the people involved in this set-up so we cannot comment more at this time, but would ask that if anyone has any information about drug dealing in our area please contact police on 101 or via the Lancashire Police website, another option is to contact crime stoppers which is 100% anonymous on 0800 555 111."
