US news anchor Ken Rosato is reported to have been fired after being caught on a hot mike calling his co-anchor a ‘c***’.
Now it’s been reported that the offending comment that got him fired was aimed at his colleague Shirleen Allicot..Rosato had hosted the morning newscast since 2007 and won an Emmy Award that same year for his coverage of a steam pipe explosion in New York City. When news of his firing broke, it was reported that although his colleagues were brought in for a ‘one-by-one’ to talk about what had happened, management refused to disclose exactly what was said.
Although a source speculated Rosato may have used a ‘racial slur’, he emphatically denied that was the case. ‘Being fired for any racial slur is 100 per cent inaccurate and untrue. Ken Rosato had a benchmark of 20 years at WABC of supporting all equality,’ a representative for the reporter also told Page Six.On Friday, the station’s general manager alerted employees via e-mail that Rosato was ‘no longer with WABC’ and thanked him for ‘years of service’.
First joining the show as a freelance reporter in 2003, Rosato was promoted to morning and noon anchor in 2007.
