These images capture industrial life across Northern Ireland

Northern Ireland, back in the day, was a bustling hive of industry. But as the smokestacks billowed and the machines clanked away, there was a divide lurking in the shadows. While for many jobs were handed down from father to son as a rite of passage, discrimination also ran deep and it was as if certain industries has"no Catholics allowed" signs hanging at their gates.

Harland and Wolff built those colossal vessels that sailed the high seas. But for many Catholics, breaking into the shipbuilding world was like trying to push a boulder up a hill. However, people weren't ones to back down and some turned to the thriving rope-making industry while others found solace in Gallagher's cigarette factory, where tobacco met craftsmanship, and work was a bit more accessible.

In the middle of it all, we created wonders. The RMS Titanic, our pride and joy, was born in the sweat and toil of Belfast's shipyards, but it touched the lives of rope makers and cigarette factory workers alike.
