A new tribute to street artist Banksy has drawn crowds of onlookers since it appeared in the city centre earlier this week.
Passersby stopped to admire the work by The Rebel Bear, a street artist often referred to as Glasgow's very own Banksy. Located at the entrance to the former Debenham's store on Argyle Street, the painting depicts Banksy's signature rat as the Duke of Wellington, tipping his traffic cone hat to passersby on the busy shopping street.
Sharing the work on Instagram earlier this week to his 41K followers, The Rebel Bear welcomed Banksy to Glasgow and credited him with inspiring up-and-coming street artists."You helped pave the way for the bear's paws. Keep cantering on le commandant." The artwork is just a short walk from the Gallery of Modern Art, where Banksy is displaying his first solo exhibition in 14 years, Cut and Run.
