Former Houston City Councilmember Ada Edwards, a longtime community activist who represented District D in south Houston for six years in the early 2000s, has died. Here's a look at her career in photos.

She served three terms in the body from 2001 to 2007 and chaired the Housing and Community Development and Flooding and Drainage Issues Committees and the State of Emergency HIV/AIDS Task Force.Edwards doing aerobics with a group of people attending the Sisterhood Health Expo, which provided health care information for families, particularly minority women, in 2006 at the George R.
