Former Man United player Zlatan Ibrahimovic defended the Glazers this week and risked his popularity among supporters.
Some of the biggest egos in the world, from Donald Trump, Cristiano Ronaldo and Tyson Fury, have spoken to Piers Morgan for his uncensored TV show, but the interviewer probably loves himself more than his interviewees do.
"I think now in Man United, I don't know, there are some kind of demonstrations about the owners to sell it and that, but just a reminder, the owners are investing," said Ibrahimovic on Piers Morgan Uncensored. United have spent over £1.5billion since 2012 and their spending in the last five years is only surpassed by Manchester City and Chelsea, but that's been money the club has generated due to its commercial juggernaut status.
The club have continued to make millions, regardless of the decline on the pitch over the last decade. The Glazers have profited and they took dividends over seven years before putting an end to those withdrawals in December. Ibrahimovic has a responsibility, especially as a former player, to educate himself on the Glazers' spending before sharing ill-informed opinions on such a large platform and it was disappointing to see him get it so wrong.
