IBM rolls into AI arms race with Watsonx

IBM launched its hat into the ring of big tech AI platforms meaning to cash in on the current wave of enthusiasm for the transformative technology.

International Business Machines Corp. launched its hat into the ring of artificial-intelligence platforms meaning to cash in on the current wave of interest in AI on Tuesday.

At its Think 2023 conference Tuesday, IBM IBM introduced an upgraded iteration of its Jeopardy-famed franchise, the Watsonx platform, which offers foundation models and generative AI, an AI development studio, a data store and a governance tool kit. “To benefit from the latest AI capabilities, enterprises want to build on open-source machine learning: open-source models trained on accessible data sets that can run within a secure environment with compliance and proper data governance,” Hugging Face co-founder and CEO Clem Delangue said in a statement.
