Mum-of-one Maisie Rees, 35, found ways to upcycle her dated kitchen whilst keeping to a tight budget
Renovating your home can take a lot of time, money and not to mention patience, as things don't always go to plan. For these reasons, more and more people are taking on DIY in a bid to save money and manage their home renovation projects themselves.
Maisie Rees, 35, managed to turn her dull and dated kitchen into a cool, graphic space for under £150 - and she did it all during her two-year-old daughter's nap times with the renovation completed in less than a week. The mum-of-one spoke to Tap Warehouse about how she did the DIY project to help inspire other renters.
Once she was happy with her plans, the mum began painting the walls, ceiling and existing tiled backsplash. "For the backsplash, I primed it with white paint and then handpainted the black graphic shapes that I created by using cardboard templates - this probably took the longest," she said. The mum from Birmingham set up her home Instagram account to share renter-friendly decorating hacks. Having studied graphic design as a student and now being an interior stylist, Maisie wanted her home to reflect her creativity and eye for design.
