Most people only dream about moving across the world to follow their dreams. Those that make the plunge are considered brave, especially if it is to pursue something new.
Mario originally moved here to pursue his love of darts. He said: "The sport is not popular in Brazil so I moved to give it a go. Between any job I could find and going to the pub to play, I was counting the coins every single day. He told LancsLive: "I moved here in 2020 as wanted change of scene as I was living in London since 2016. My brother was living here so being close to family was what made me move to the North.
He told LancsLive: "I started Judo when I was four - my parents put me in this sport and I really enjoyed it. I have had 10 official fights in the UK and so far 10 wins! All by the maximum score. My blackbelt I got here in the UK. "I trained really hard and, well, won that competition. After that I signed up as a member in Kaos Gym in Preston, which the owners are Rhiannon Lovelace - the world strongest woman - and Luke Davies - Wales strongest -105kg man - and started training there, surrounded by professional and amateur athletes.Now Mario has opened his own fitness studio in Buckshaw Village, but it hasn't been as straightforward as his strongman journey.
