Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny director James Mangold explains how 70-year-old Indiana Jones may not be done with adventures after all. The latest movie in the Indiana Jones franchise is the final time Harrison Ford will don the hat and whip as the iconic titular character, going on one final adventure.

Explaining that although he has retired as a teacher, that does not mean that he has retired as an archeologist, and there are certainly more things to do with his life now that he has more time to focus on what truly matters.
I don't think he'll ever stop digging. And when he takes the hat off the clothesline, I think it's because, first of all, you shouldn't put hats on clotheslines. And second of all, no, I don't think he's done. I think that an ending doesn't mean that the characters never move again in their lives. It just means that you feel that you've entered a state of grace with their story. I think he'll wake up tomorrow and want to do something.
Will Indiana Jones Ever Return ? Although Ford has said multiple times that Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny will mark the final time he will play the character, the ending of his latest movie leaves room for interpretation and teases that his adventures aren't fully done.
Ford reprised his role as Indiana Jones in one episode, but Corey Carrier and Sean Patrick Flannery played the younger version of the character throughout the seasons. Should any future Indiana Jones titles occur, they do not need to star Ford, especially if they would chronicle a younger part of his life. While Ford himself stated that he was done playing the character, the latest installment, Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny, hinted that Indiana Jones' adventures may not be over.
