The effects of Hurricane Lee, currently a powerful Category 4 storm, could cause rough surf on the East Coast by Sunday, the National Hurricane Center said.
Lee, which is 565 miles east of the Northern Leeward Islands in the Caribbean on Friday, is expected to remain a major hurricane as it heads west-northwest until at least the middle of next week when the hurricane center says it will turn north.

Swells and rough surf are expected along the Jersey Shore next week.Lee, which is in the Atlantic Ocean thousands of miles away from New Jersey, gained rapid strength on Thursday and is now packing 155 mph winds as it moves west-northwest at 13 mph Friday morning.
