The potential development could bring about 420 residential units to a property at 1357 5th St. in Oakland, according to the very preliminary proposal. “The proposed project consists of demolition of an existing single-story commercial building and surface parking,” the proposal by the Martin Group states. “The approximately 4-acre site would be redeveloped with 420 rental dwelling units.”The property is located at the corner of 5th Street and Mandela Parkway in the Acorn Industrial district of West Oakland, the planning documents show.
A large surface parking lot is adjacent to the building, which was constructed in 1960, according to information from Google Maps and LoopNet.
