THE First Minister has said that the international community must demand an end to the “collective punishment” of Palestinians after Israel told more than 1.1 million people in Gaza to evacuate.

In a statement Stephane Dujarric, a spokesperson for the UN secretary-general, said: “The United Nations considers it impossible for such a movement to take place without devastating humanitarian consequences.“The United Nations strongly appeals for any such order, if confirmed, to be rescinded avoiding what could transform what is already a tragedy into a calamitous situation.”

“The international community must step up and demand an end to collective punishment. Enough. There can be no justification for the death of innocent men, women & children.” “In the following days the IDF will continue to operate with significant force in Gaza city and will make extensive efforts to avoid harming civilians.”
