The legs were recovered along the north shore of the Susquehanna River. The remains were 'cleanly cut near the knee joints,' experts determined in a missing persons filing.

Lycoming County Coroner, Charles Kiessling Jr., told the local media outlet on Tuesday that the ethnicity of the victim had not yet been determined. He stated that the person's death had likely happened up to six months before the legs were found, but full analysis is ongoing.DNA could possibly be obtained from the remains. He said cold river water will help police because it may slow decomposition.

On May 11, the two human legs were recovered along the north shore of the Susquehanna River near the Hepburn Street Pump Station in Williamsport City., an ABC-affiliated TV station in Pennsylvania, Kiessling said there had been no missing persons matching the description linked to the Williamsport area.
