Woman shot in head, critically injured outside Katy Fwy. hotel, police say
Houston police respond to the shooting of a woman outside of the La Quinta Inn on the 15200 block of Katy Freeway on July 9, 2022.A woman was shot and critically injured Saturday morning outside of a west Houston hotel, according to authorities.
Officers responded to reports of a shooting around 1:30 a.m. at the La Quinta Inn on the 15200 block of Katy Freeway and found the woman with a gunshot wound to her head, Houston police said. EMS transported her to Ben Taub Hospital in critical condition. Video surveillance from the hotel showed investigators the 29-year-old woman was sitting in the passenger seat of a car parked behind the hotel with a man when another man approached the car and fired shots at them, HPD added.
"She had motioned to somebody that she had wanted a cigarette, they were walking toward her vehicle and the next thing they knew is that there was a gunshot," Cmdr. Carolita Johnson said."The suspect — or who we believe may be the suspect — had fled the scene and gone west of the location."Police do not currently have a description of the suspect but believe he disappeared through a cut out portion of a fence just west of the hotel, Johnson added.
