Vera Bradley Inc.’s stock VRA, +9.77% rose 10% after the handbag and accessories company swung to a profit in its fiscal second quarter from a loss a year ago and swept past earnings estimates.
Nvidia Corp.’s stock NVDA, +1.44% rose 1.8% after closing Tuesday at a record high. Melius Research analyst Ben Reitzes said he sees a case to be made that the stock could be “cheap,” at least on a relative basis. Shares of HP Inc. HPQ, -7.65% skidded 8% to lead S&P 500 decliners following an earnings report highlighted by a third straight revenue miss and warnings of a challenging economy for the PC and printer maker.
Shares BF.B, -4.32% of Brown-Forman Corp. took a beating after the spirits company, which is the parent of the Jack Daniel’s whiskey brand, reported a surprise drop in fiscal first-quarter profit and sales that came up a bit shy.
