In Treatment's UzoAduba opened up about facing her most intimidating scene partner yet: herself.
and written by co-showrunner“Brooke: Week 5” is not the season finale—a final week of episodes follows—but it’s the last one that the show filmed. Of its starry cast, only Aduba was left on set; in a conceptual trick, the episode would situate Brooke, the patient, opposite Brooke, the therapist, as she finally confronts her season-long demons. The result finds Aduba at the height of her powers, simmering to a boil on one side and subtly commanding on the other.
In the ensuing back-and-forth, what risks feeling gimmicky instead carries an affecting, tender effortlessness. Aduba filmed all of one half to start—she chose to first work through “patient Brooke” and the corresponding psychological heavy-lifting—and then made the swap. She didn’t think much about how their appearances contrasted with one another, instead closely focusing on the dialogue.the line coach with whom Aduba had become intimately acquainted over’s production.
