Be prepared to apply a pre-emergent herbicide in August to prevent being overrun by winter weeds. Many landscapes are showing bare soil that will be ideal for weeds such as bedstraw, henbit, thistle, dandelions, rescue grass, chickweed and annual blue grass when the temperatures cool and the rains begin. Review the labels of the available pre-emergent herbicides to make sure your problem weeds are listed. Crew and Dimension are two such herbicides that cover both grassy and broadleaf weeds.
