Borthwick's 'inspiring' leadership has been praised by Japan coach Riki Flutey, who will take on his former England teammate in Nice on Sunday

Having coached Highlanders in Super Rugby for the last five years, Flutey was invited into the Japan set-up by the head coach, Jamie Joseph – they both live in Dunedin – in June. The backs coach, Tony Brown, used to coach Flutey at Wellington Lions. The Brave Blossoms also have John Mitchell, the former All Blacks boss and England forwards coach, on the staff.– they are doing it with a mix of Kiwis and kizuna, a Japanese word for “bond”..
“It was Jamie’s idea,” Flutey says. “No technical or tactical words were said in it, it was more a personal message around them being awesome.
