His self-portraits are beautiful.
portfolio, celebrities and beauty pros share portraits and thoughts while staying at home during the pandemic. Anderson is in Nevada with his parents and Great Dane, Bear .I’m at home with my family in Nevada. I was planning a trip for a few days just to see them, but when [social-distancing orders were put in place], I decided to stay. It’s a different lifestyle here. I feel like in New York when you’re making things, there’s so much pressure to try to please people.
I’ve been reconnecting with all the books and magazines I’ve collected over the years. I poured myself into books and research when I started modeling. I looked at the test shoots I’d been doing, then I looked at images by these big photographers — and I’d wonder howcould do that. I started taking self-portraits to make my book look more like how I wanted, but over the course of a year, it’s turned into my art form.
I see self-portraits more now as a platform for everything that inspires me. None of my self-portraits are of me. I don't want to say they’re characters because I don't think I ever go that far. But it's [channeling] the idea of a type of person, or a movie, or anything that inspires me. This [image] is actually the first self-portrait I’ve taken that’s just…me. I did something very '70s with my makeup. I'm just not a minimalist when it comes to beauty.
