In a world riven with bigotry, discord and war, Eurovision has been able to show a more humane, more accepting face.that has helped win Britain over to the contest. As a country we have also become much more accepting in the past four decades. In the 80s homophobia was still rampant and national newspapers found it acceptable to write about “poofters”, “perverts” and “freaks”.
GJ Kooijman, who hosts a Dutch podcast about Eurovision and is a presenter on OutTV, a European LGBTQ TV channel, thinks so and argues thatGraham Norton will again be in the commentary booth for the Eurovision grand finale
