The men’s wheelchair reigning champion, RomanchukDaniel and his mom, Kim, brought together 64 athletes from 12 countries. ❤️
A total of 64 racers from around the world participated in this group time trial. Athletes ranged from youth groups in Spokane, Washington, to three Japanese athletes who stayed up late at night just to watch—they couldn’t participate because they didn’t have rollers.
“We were trying to encourage interaction between racers and newer racers,” Kim said. “It was a little hard to hear, but that}s a technical thing we’ll have to figure out. It was neat to see them talking to each other, and everyone probably liked the pros teasing each other.”To mix up the pace, Kim would occasionally add in sprint scenarios in which everyone would push for a minute or two before returning to their comfortable pace.
