Coffey's record of voting in favour of restricting abortion begs the question of whether she can objectively follow medical advice in her new role

But healthcare experts fear that Coffey, who has no medical background, will not be objective in her decision making. After Coffey’s appointment, Katherine O’Brien, Associate Director at the British Pregnancy Advisory Service , told: “It is deeply concerning for the women of England and Wales, as well as healthcare providers, that somebody who has clearly put their personal beliefs above expert medical advice is now our Health Secretary.
