Seven Brooklyn businesses struggling in the aftermath of Ida last year got an unexpected grant from TD Bank

-- As we look back at Ida one year later, business owners across the city have fought an uphill battle to get the help they needed in the aftermath of that storm.

Their basement was inundated with a foot of water, but they weren't eligible for flood insurance. The day after the storm, they got a visit from Randy Peers with the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce, and within about a week, they were hand-selected for a $5,000 grant from"We looked for some really hard impact areas, regions, and communities.

"It was like a nightmare," the mother of two said."I had just opened up a few months in and it was like, that was the worst thing that could have happened to me at that time."
