Wigstock was something that I had admired & wished I was a part of before it first ended. Bushwig was partly inspired by the spirit of Wigstock and is a celebration of Brooklyn's drag scene just as Wigstock started as a celebration of Manhattan's drag scene. I think our overall values are very similar, but we have always been very different in our approach.Montero: The festival has grown exponentially in just a few years’ time.
Montero: You’ve featured some of New York City’s brightest emerging talents that have reached wider and wider audiences like that of the Drag Race franchise in the past. Who are some newcomers you can’t wait to grace the Bushwig stage? I love all the children of Bushwig! It would be so difficult to pick before they've hit the stage. There are also so many different incredible performance styles we get to see at Bushwig, you just can't compare them with each other.
