there must be fewer than 22 students in preKindergarten through fourth grade classrooms and districts must have an average of less than 20 students in fifth grade through 12th grade classrooms. This law doesn't apply to charter schools.About 65% of Bexar County’s non-charter school campuses, which don’t include special education or alternative schools, have fewer full-time teachers compared to five years prior. In total, the county lost almost 400 teachers.
“The only small classes that you may find are maybe those upper classes, such as a pre calc class or something like that,” he said. “You will find very small numbers in those classes because a lot of kids don't take those courses.” According to communications director for Texas American Federation of Teachers Nicole Hill, teachers across the state made efforts to find students who didn’t return.Between missing students and students moving to charter schools, the student-to-teacher ratio remained steady.
