Houston women beat Wichita State, advance to AAC championship game

Tiara Young scored a career-high 26 points as the University of Houston beat Wichita State 72-64 on Wednesday in Fort Worth to move within one victory of a spot in the NCAA women’s basketball tournament.
UH used a late 17-2 run to advance to the American Athletic Conference championship game for the first time. Curtessia Dean hit a 3-pointer and followed with a three-point point play to put Wichita State ahead, 53-51, with 7:59 left in the game. UH scored 17 of the game’s next 19 points, 10 coming from Young, to pull away. Young was 10-of-26 shooting off the bench. Laila Blair added 19 points and Britney Onyeje had 13 points.
